For sale: A matched pair of Yamaha NS-10m Studio monitors with Reftone upgraded woofers and tweeter fuse installed. These sound (and look) fantastic. We would compare them to the standard NS-10M sound, but with more low-end and a new, modernized woofer design that can handle more punishment. We were afraid they might not sound or look good in the studio (see the last photo), but they are fantastic. Tested with a Hafler P1500, and they stand up next to a pair of OG NS-10s.
These are fairly unique studio monitors. Overall condition is good. We're not sure if it's a Reftone thing or what, but the top and sides have had their wood veneer removed, and the remaining surface is painted/coated. There are the usual imperfections throughout for cabinets of this age.
We gave these a solid test and modified the following:
Adding a missing tweeter gasket and glued both into position. This makes for much easier seating in the future.The left tweeter was resoldered to it's wiring for a more reliable long-term connection.Both tweeters were properly centered and reseated in their positions.Both speakers were properly tested at moderate to high volume on a suitable amplifier (Hafler P1500). There are general imperfections in the cabinets throughout. Please example all photos carefully. The bottoms have the usual missing finish with obligatory adhesive residue strips (not sticky).
