We're always on the lookout for new inventory. If you have a synth for sale that would look at home on our site, we'd love to hear from you. We are especially interested in Access Virus synthesizers, and will purchase them in *any* condition. We enjoy the buying and selling — but more than anything, we love the restoration work, especially giving Access Virus synths their best shot at a second life. We pay cash for other synths as well.

Sell Your Synth – Purchase Policy

This policy governs the sale of used musical gear to Captain Black’s Gear Emporium ("we," "us," "our"). By submitting gear for sale, you ("you," "the seller") agree to the terms below.
1. Accepted Gear
We accept synthesizers, samplers, grooveboxes, effects units, and other music production equipment. Items may be working or non-working, but must be described accurately and honestly at the time of submission.
2. Submission Process
To initiate a sale, you must provide the following:
- Model and serial number (if present)
- Condition description, including all known issues
- Clear photos of all sides, including ports, jacks, screens, and any cosmetic wear
- Confirmation of whether the item is fully functional, partially functional, or non-functional
We may request additional information before making an offer.
3. Offer and Agreement
Upon review of your submission, we will provide a firm written offer based on the description and images provided. This offer is valid for 3 calendar days, unless otherwise specified in writing. If you accept the offer, we will send confirmation of the agreed amount and shipping instructions. This constitutes a binding agreement, pending final physical inspection.
4. Shipping Requirements
You are responsible for shipping the item to us, including all shipping and insurance costs. The item must be packaged securely to prevent damage in transit. You must provide a valid tracking number within 3 business days of accepting our offer, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
5. Inspection and Final Payment
Upon receipt, we will inspect the item within 3 business days (usually much faster). If the item matches your original description, full payment will be issued via the agreed method (PayPal G&S, Wise, Zelle, or other).
If the item does not match the described condition due to undisclosed damage, defects, or missing parts, we’ll contact you within 3 business days with one of the following:
- A revised offer reflecting the discrepancy
- A request for return instructions (see Section 6)
6. Misrepresentation and Returns
If the item was misrepresented, the seller is responsible for all return shipping costs, including insurance (at seller's discretion).
We will not return the item or finalize payment until one of the following occurs:
- You confirm return acceptance and provide a valid shipping label
- You accept the revised offer in writing
If no response is received within 7 calendar days, the revised offer will be applied by default and payment will be issued accordingly.
7. Items Damaged in Transit
If the item arrives damaged due to inadequate packaging or carrier mishandling, we will document the damage and contact you immediately. You are responsible for filing any insurance claims with your carrier. We do not assume responsibility for damage caused by third-party shippers.
8. Non-Compliance
If you fail to provide tracking, ship the item, or respond to inspection outcomes within the agreed timeframes, we reserve the right to void the transaction.
9. Payment Options
Payment will be issued within 1 business day of successful inspection and acceptance via:
- PayPal Goods & Services
- Wise (ACH or local payout)
- Zelle
- Other methods specified in our written agreement
