📦 This synth sold on 6-22-25.
Sold: Waldorf Kyra in near-mint condition with the original box, manual, power supply, USB cable, and the latest OS installed. This is a beast of a multitimbral synth in amazing shape (128 voices!).
This unit is so nice and clean. I thought it was mint until the last minute when I noticed an extremely minor mark near the multi button on the top left of the unit (see photo #20). It's so minor, I think most sellers would have missed this. You won't notice or care.
Updated to the latest OS (01.78)
Unit has been meticulously cleaned from top to bottom. Each knob and every inch of the unit has been cleaned, and wiped down. Includes original box and packing materials
This is an extremely versatile synth. I'm highly tempted to keep it, as it's 8-part multitimbral, loaded with all kinds of goodies including 4 oscillators per voice (apparently in some configurations 10, but I will say 4 to be safe), filters, envelopes, filters, mod matrix, rich effects and an FPGA engine. It's very deep and would make a wonderful centerpiece for someone looking for a "one synth to rule them all" kind of setup. There are some oversights (like missing a jog wheel), but the layout really is quite intuitive once you spend a little time with it. I've heard the layout is similar to a Virus, and I can see why people say that. Just turn a knob and the synth's engine jumps to that page. I was able to dive in and start getting busy without opening the manual. That's always a good sign ;) NOTE: if it seems like some knobs aren't working, it's just because those features aren't activated in that patch. Turning OSC 2 knobs won't do anything if OSC 2 is not enabled (for example).
All functionality has been tested, and this unit is good to go / ready for a new home :)
Sale includes the synth, original box/packing, power supply, and USB cable

- Synthesis Type: Virtual analog with FPGA-based processing, offering wavetable, hypersaw, pulse, and noise generation for a versatile sonic palette.
- Polyphony: 128-voice polyphony (regardless of settings or effects); 8-part multitimbrality with up to 32 voices per part for complex layering and sequencing.
- Oscillators: 2 primary alias-free oscillator groups (OSC GROUP 1 and OSC GROUP 2) per voice, plus 1 sub-oscillator:
- Waveforms: Sawtooth, pulse (with PWM), noise, and Wave (4,096 18-bit linear PCM 32x oversampled waveforms, organized into categories).
- Additional modes: Hypersaw (stacks up to 10 sawtooths per oscillator group for thick trance leads), hard sync (OG2 synced to OG1), FM (OG1’s Wave modulated by OG2’s), ring modulation (using Waves from OG1 and OG2).
- Sub-oscillator: Square or triangle waveforms for enhanced low-end depth.
- Dual Mode: Layers two OG1+OG2 pairs with detuning for true stereo signal path.
- Filters: 2 multimode filters per voice, emulating classic analog ladder filters:
- Modes: Low-pass, band-pass, high-pass; 2-pole (12dB/octave) or 4-pole (24dB/octave).
- Configurations: Single or dual parallel (true stereo) operation with 128 filter instances total.
- Features: Resonance (no self-oscillation), adjustable cutoff, and envelope modulation for dynamic sound shaping.
- Effects: 9-module effects chain per part, all usable simultaneously at 96kHz:
- 3-band EQ: Sweepable mid for precise tonal control.
- Formant Filter: Adds vocal-like characteristics.
- Input Limiter: Controls dynamics of external audio inputs.
- Distortion: Tube-style or aggressive distortion for grit and warmth.
- Delay: MIDI-syncable with variable feedback and polyrhythmic patterns.
- 6-stage Phaser: Stereo phaser for retro and modern modulation effects.
- Chorus/Flanger/Doubler: Lush modulation effects for depth and width.
- Stereo Reverb: Spacious, programmable reverb with MIDI-syncable pre-delay.
- Output Limiter: Prevents clipping and ensures clean output.
- Modulation:
- Modulation Matrix: 6 slots with up to 3 destinations each (18 routings total), supporting sources like LFOs, envelopes, and MIDI controllers.
- 3 LFOs per voice: 128 waveforms (triangle, saw, square, S&H, random, anti-phase, quadrature stereo), with monophonic/polyphonic modes and MIDI clock sync.
- 3 ADSR Envelope Generators: One for VCA, one for filter, one freely assignable; includes EG Slope setting for response shaping.
- Velocity Control: Modulates parameters like amplitude, filter cutoff, and wavetable position.
- Key Follow: Adjusts LFO speed or filter cutoff based on key position.
- Memory: 3,328 patches across 26 banks (A–Z, 128 patches each); 7 RAM banks (896 user-editable patches), 19 ROM banks (recallable but not overwritable via Store); banks can be copied between RAM and ROM; MIDI program change and bank select supported.
- Arpeggiator: 8 independent arpeggiators (one per part) with 128 preset patterns, modes (Up, Down, Random, Chord), MIDI clock sync, and settings saved per patch; no user-programmable patterns on hardware.
- Control & Interface: 28 knobs, 8 buttons, 256x64 pixel OLED display; knob-per-function layout with minimal menu diving; value buttons for parameter adjustments; transpose buttons for octave shifts and power on/off.
- Connectivity:
- Audio Outputs: 8 balanced 1/4-inch TRS outputs (4 stereo pairs, A–D), 24-bit Velvet Sound DAC.
- Headphone Output: Mirrors stereo pair A.
- USB 2.0: 8 stereo audio streams at 24-bit/96kHz (48kHz option), single stereo return from DAW, class-compliant MIDI and audio.
- MIDI: In, Out, Thru (5-pin DIN), supporting full parameter control and MIDI Tuning Standard (MTS) for microtuning.
- Power: 12V DC, 3A via 4-pin PS2 connector (external power supply included).
- Kensington Lock: For security.
- Physical Design: Robust metal chassis with wooden end cheeks, desktop form factor; dimensions: 440 mm (W) x 305 mm (D) x 85 mm (H, including knobs); weight: 5.7 kg.
- Additional Features:
- Dual Mode: Layers two voices with detuning, dual filters, and stereo LFOs for thick, wide sounds (reduces polyphony per part).
- FPGA Processing: 32-bit/96kHz oversampled engine for alias-free oscillators and non-stepping filters.
- Firmware Updates: OS updates (e.g., v1.7.8) add features, bug fixes, and stability via USB (recommended to download latest OS).
- Sound Character: Sharp, clear digital tones to lush pads and acid squelches, ideal for trance, techno, and ambient (compared to Access Virus but with unique FPGA clarity).
