Please examine all photos carefully, as we have done our best to document the condition.
The SOMA Lyra-8 is an eight-voice analog organismic synthesizer built around SOMA's nonlinear synthesis philosophy. Rather than behaving like a traditional keyboard synthesizer, the Lyra encourages direct interaction through touch contacts, cross-modulation between voices, internal feedback paths, analog delay, and unstable organic behaviors that constantly evolve as you play. It is capable of everything from beautiful drifting drones and haunting harmonics to chaotic textures, noise experiments, and cinematic soundscapes. Few instruments sound remotely like a Lyra-8, and fewer still invite the same kind of exploratory interaction.
Sale includes the Lyra-8, original box, original power supply, and free shipping to the continental US. Will be double-boxed for safe shipping.

- Synthesis Type: Fully analog organismic synthesizer built around nonlinear interaction, feedback, touch control, and continuously evolving behavior
- Voice Architecture: 8 nontraditional analog tone generators arranged as four interacting pairs
- The voices behave more like tone generators from vintage electric organs than conventional voltage-controlled oscillators
- The four pairs are divided into two larger groups, creating a tree-like architecture for cross-modulation and shared control
- Each voice can contribute to electric-organ-style tones or behave as an FM operator with its own envelope response
- Touch Interface:
- 16 touch contacts provide two playing points for each of the eight voices
- The conductivity-based interface supports chords, drones, clusters, glides, and expressive changes that are difficult to reproduce with a conventional keyboard
- HOLD control allows voices to continue sounding without constant contact
- Voice Controls:
- Independent tuning and shaping controls for each voice
- FAST and SLOW response settings alter the way voices enter and leave the sound
- Per-pair modulation controls make it possible to move from stable intervals to dense, unstable interactions
- FM and Cross-Modulation:
- Voice pairs can frequency-modulate one another for metallic tones, beating textures, and complex harmonic movement
- The influence of each voice changes with its envelope, producing interactions that evolve naturally over time
- Internal feedback makes small control changes capable of producing dramatic shifts in behavior
- HYPER LFO:
- Complex low-frequency generator built from two simple LFOs
- The two LFO frequencies can be summed, multiplied, or synchronized to create regular pulses, drifting movement, and chaotic modulation
- Can modulate selected voice pairs and the MOD DELAY section
- MOD DELAY:
- Dual analog delay lines with cross-feedback and resonant interaction between the two sides
- Independent delay-time controls can be influenced by internal or external modulation
- Self-modulation allows the output signal to affect the delay sample rate for unstable echoes, pitch movement, smearing, and runaway feedback textures
- Distortion and External Processing:
- Analog distortion sits after the delay so the echoes and feedback structure can drive the distortion stage
- External audio input allows guitars, drum machines, synthesizers, and other sound sources to be processed through the Lyra-8 signal path
- Useful as both a self-contained instrument and an experimental analog effects processor
- Control Voltage Integration:
- HOLD GATE input accepts +5 V for full HOLD level
- CV VOICES and CV DELAY accept unipolar 0 to +5 V control signals
- 1/4-inch control connections make it easy to integrate Lyra-8 with modular gear, sequencers, and external modulation sources
- Audio Connectivity:
- 1/4-inch external audio input
- 1/4-inch main output supports mono TS or balanced TRS connection
- Direct analog workflow with no presets, MIDI, or USB
- Workflow:
- Designed for exploration and interaction rather than conventional note programming or repeatable preset recall
- Balanced output dynamics and frequency response make it suitable for direct studio recording and live performance
- Rewards slow control changes, active listening, and recording long improvisations as the internal relationships evolve
- Use Cases:
- Drone, ambient, industrial, cinematic textures, experimental composition, and improvised performance
- Unstable feedback systems, evolving soundscapes, touch-controlled noise, analog delay processing, and external audio transformation
