For sale: Korg MS2000B in excellent overall condition for its age. This unit has been fully tested, carefully serviced where appropriate, and is clean, stable, and functioning as intended. Cosmetic details and servicing documented below.
Details:
All tacts and pots are responsive and function as intended. We did not run into any double-tappers or tacts that require a hard press.
A power input solder joint was professionally reflowed after a previously loose connection was identified, then mechanically reinforced to prevent future strain. The port is now solid and functions as intended. As with all vintage synths, we recommend normal care when inserting or removing power cables.
The loose mod wheel was repaired by re-tightening the jacket bolt that holds the potentiometer in place. It is now secure.
All keys, knobs, and buttons have been whitened. While not perfect, they look nice overall. The translucent patch / sequencer buttons still show some yellowing, as translucent plastic is impossible to fully whiten. The keys are not getting any whiter than they are now. See photo 23 for an example of how a brand-new B key looks compared to these keys. New key not included, just shown for example.
Several stickers and residual adhesive were removed from the chassis, wood sides, and buttons.
The wood sides have been touched up with staining and a fresh polycoat.
The bottom chassis has been sanded down and given a fresh coat of black paint.
The unit has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out.
The original gooseneck mic works, but is on its way out. We have ordered a replacement that will be here December 18th. If you order before the 18th, we will ship the synth first and the gooseneck replacement when it comes in. Otherwise, both mics will be included. The replacement is a Behringer TA 312S. In any case, the vocoder works fine via the input on the back of the unit regardless.
The screen has a darker spot in it. Unsure what would cause this, perhaps some vigorous cleaning attempts by the previous owner. The screen is stable, but you can see this phenomenon in photo 3.
The left wood panel has a darker streak in it that is visible at the right angle. See photo 15.
There are a few minor blemishes in the finish, particularly on the back of the unit. The faceplate looks fantastic overall. Please examine all photos carefully, as we've done our best to capture the condition in the photos.
Sale includes the synth and a new ~4ft power cable.
