The Korg Modwave takes the wavetable concepts introduced in instruments like the Waldorf Microwave and pushes them into thoroughly modern territory. Built around Korg's Wave Sequencing 2.0 platform and an enormous library of wavetables, the Modwave excels at evolving pads, animated textures, aggressive digital leads, cinematic soundscapes, and rhythmic sequences that constantly shift and transform over time. While it is capable of traditional subtractive sounds, its real strength lies in motion. Between the wavetable engine, Kaoss Physics controller, extensive modulation system, and deep sequencing capabilities, the Modwave rewards experimentation and can produce sounds that would be difficult or impossible to achieve on most virtual analog synthesizers. The learning curve is steeper than many modern synths, but for sound designers and adventurous musicians, it is one of the deepest digital instruments Korg has produced in years.
