For sale: Access Virus TI2 Desktop digital synthesizer in perfect working order and very good cosmetic condition. This later-production run is a bit of a rescue, as we discovered a few issues that needed addressing during inspection. In the end, we have a beautiful well-serviced TI2 for a lower price point because of the cosmetics.
Details below:
We replaced the filter balance pot, which was wobbling within its secured shaft. This is common with corner pots, as they tend to get whacked during transport.
The LCD bezel has been polished to look its best (see photo 15).
Installed a new battery. You should not need to worry about the battery for ~10 years.
This is a later production run, as evidenced by the Torx t10 screws (see photos 22-23).
We discovered some minor corrosion on the three removable internal plates (front, back, and bottom). The corrosion was sanded away, the areas were cleaned with alcohol, and the plates were clear-coated with Rust-Oleum glossy clear enamel to prevent it from returning (see photo 24).
We touched up some edge rash on the front with a metallic enamel mix we make in-house. The touch-up on the front edge hides well, but it's not perfect in bright, natural lighting (see photo 25), and there is a bit of roughness to the touch. It's impossible for us to perfectly match the tone and smoothness of the OEM powdercoat.
This unit looks nice and clean overall, but it's not perfect. There are some scrapes and blemishes near the volume pot (see photo 9), some imperfections in the wood veneer plate (see photos 16-17), a repaired ding in the lower-left corner that left a minor mark in the wood veneer (see photo 28), a scuff in the silkscreen at the lower-right corner (see photo 27), some blemishes on the rear of the unit from careless cable insertion (see photo 29), and some blemishes and scratches on the bottom plate (see photo 21). Please examine all photos carefully, as we have done our best to document the condition. Note, we take close-ups in bright, natural lighting to ensure full disclosure. This synth is still beautiful in person.
The Virus TI2 is a monster of a polyphonic, multitimbral analog-modeling synth. With dual DSP processors, 64 waveforms, 100 wavetables, two filters, three LFOs, an advanced modulation matrix, and a deep suite of effects, the sonic possibilities are virtually endless. The TI2 offers up to 110 voices of polyphony and is 16-part multitimbral, with three stereo analog outputs plus audio streaming over USB via the Total Integration plugin. On supported systems, three independent stereo pairs can appear directly within your DAW, allowing individual Virus parts to be processed with EQ, compression, effects, automation, and third-party plugins as part of your normal mixing workflow. The three analog stereo outputs may also be used simultaneously, providing up to six stereo output pairs across USB and the analog outputs in Multi Mode.
This is a good-looking and well-serviced example of "The King" 👑 :)
Mac and Windows 11 users, please do your homework before buying if you intend to use the original Total Integration plugin. The Access software is a legacy system, and compatibility depends on your operating system, DAW, and USB setup. It works perfectly in Windows 10 and is an absolute thing of beauty in Windows 10 / Cubase 15. Some users report it also works fine in Windows 11, but there may be some additional config with the new driver signing requirements (some users report there is, some don't).
Virux is a promising third-party project working to bring Virus TI integration to modern systems, including Apple Silicon Macs. It is still in development, so please check its current release status and support for your exact hardware and software before relying on it.
All TIs can also be used independently of the TI plugin through their standard MIDI and audio connections.
Sale includes the synth, new high-quality power supply, a high-quality, highly shielded 1.5M (4.92 ft) USB cable designed for audio streaming over USB, and free shipping to the continental US.
