For sale: Access Virus TI Desktop digital synthesizer in excellent cosmetic condition and perfect working order. As usual, we've given her a full inspection and upgraded a few things along the way :)
Ships with a new high-quality aftermarket power supply and a new high-quality, heavily shielded 1.5M (4.92 ft) USB cable optimized for audio streaming over USB. We're happy to swap in a standard 6 ft USB cable if you don't plan to use the TI integration.
Details below:
All tact switches have been replaced with high-quality, brand-name tact switches rated for 3 million clicks. They are soft-touch and feel and sound just like the originals (see photos 20-22).
The battery has been replaced with an Energizer CR2032 lithium cell. You should not need to replace the battery for ~10 years (see photo 23).
All pots are in perfect working order and function as intended.
The LCD bezel has been polished to look its best (see photo 17).
We have cleaned the unit thoroughly inside and out. Even the knobs have been cleaned and look nearly new. No white or greasy buildup like you commonly see on Viruses from this era.
During service, we discovered that the input-protection TVS diode had previously failed, leaving localized heat damage and discoloration on the PCB. We removed the failed component, verified continuity through both affected traces, and installed the correct STMicroelectronics SM6T18CA replacement. The repaired area is not cosmetically factory-clean, but the repair is electrically solid and mechanically stable. It's a small, difficult area to work in. The unit has been stress tested and operates correctly (see photo 24).
There are minor imperfections in the finish (see photos 25-26). Please examine all photos carefully, as we have done our best to document the condition.
The Virus TI is a polyphonic monster. With 16-part multitimbrality, a deep oscillator section, dual filters, and dedicated effects for each part, it can cover a remarkable amount of ground from a single box. Huge HyperSaw leads, evolving wavetable pads, tight basses, glassy digital textures, and intricate arpeggios are all very much at home here. It has the depth to build an entire arrangement around, but the hands-on panel makes it just as rewarding to sit down and work on one great sound.
Mac and Windows 11 users, please do your homework before purchasing. The original Total Integration app is not compatible with current versions of macOS. The app works perfectly in Windows 10 (Total Integration is an absolute thing of beauty in Windows 10 / Cubase 15). Some users report it also works fine in Windows 11, but we have not personally tested this. There are also newer apps such as Virux, but they are new and still in devlopment and may not work perfectly with your system. Please check compatibility with your intended setup before purchasing.
