Sold: Access Virus TI desktop digital synthesizer in excellent condition. This is a special one, and it's been a long time coming (8+ months). We originally purchased this unit knowing it didn't turn on. After repairing the hardware, we were able to get it to boot into update mode, but it would not enumerate over USB. We sent it to Advanced Musical in Venice, CA to have the firmware flashed. It turns out the USB controller was bad, and because the part was discontinued, the only option was total replacement. So, this unit has a NEW main board and a NEW display. Additional upgrades were completed as part of our standard inspection and maintenance. This is essentially a new Access Virus TI Desktop in perfect working order and fantastic cosmetic condition.
Details below:
New mainboard and new display direct from Kemper (via Advanced Musical in CA) (see photo 24, notice the T10 screws). The board is actually a TI2 board with TI2 processors, but it has the TI firmware and a TI bootloader & feature set. Whether or not it has TI2 DSP headroom, we do not know, but will endeavor to find out. Paperwork available upon request. All 43 tact switches have been replaced with new brand-name tacts rated for 1 million clicks (see photos 21-23). The LCD bezel has been polished. This unit has been completely disassembled and cleaned inside and out. Sale includes a new, high-quality power supply that runs at 12V, 3.0 amps (more than enough to power the unit, meaning the PSU will run cool). Updated to the latest OS (5.1.7). There is a minor line running horizontally through the inside of the LCD bezel, as sometimes happens to these. It is minor in this case (see photo 27). There is also a minor surface scratch that we were unable to polish away. We are happy to replace it with a new bezel for $50 at the buyer's discretion, but we see no need as it looks great. There are a number of minor blemishes in the finish on the chassis and in the wood sides (see photos 25-29). Please examine all photos carefully, as we have done our best to document the condition.
The Virus TI is an iconic monster of a polyphonic, multitimbral synthesizer. With 64 waveforms, 72 wavetables, two filters, three LFOs, an advanced modulation matrix, a full suite of effects, and more, the sonic possibilities are virtually endless. The TI offers up to 80 voices of polyphony and is 16-part multitimbral, with three stereo outputs as well as audio streaming over USB via the Total Integration VST (VST, AU, AAX), which is an absolute thing of beauty on supported operating systems.
Mac users: please do your homework before purchasing. The Total Integration app is not compatible with the latest versions of macOS. The app works well on Windows 10. Users also report it works fine on Windows 11, but we have not personally verified this. We encourage buyers to research compatibility carefully if they plan to use the Total Integration app. Feel free to reach out to us with questions.
