For sale: A wonderfully restored Access Virus KC. We've made extensive efforts to restore this unit to "like-new" functional condition. Overall, the look is nice and clean, but it is not without blemishes. These big boys tend to get a little more banged up than their smaller brothers. Details below:

Replaced all 35 tacts with new high quality, name-brand switches rated for 1 million clicks. They sound and feel great. Everything is very responsive, like new :) See photo 19-21 with all the yellow tacts.
This unit has a "pot plate" installed to prevent any pots from wobbling. Second time We've seen this in a Virus C. Very nice to have, as it pretty much removes the need to replace pots (at least from wobbling).
One extremely tight and three loose pots were replaced. The pots generally have a nice even feel.
The power supply filter capacitor in this unit was a Nichicon, but old, so was replaced with a brand-new Panasonic EEU-FR1E101. The Panasonic's high ripple current handling and low ESR minimize heat and ensure exceptional reliability and performance for this KC Keyboard.
The main out L output jack was replaced with a new jack and a 0 ohm resistor on the same channel was also replaced (turns out the jack was fine, and the resistor was the only issue).
Keys are nice and white, and have been meticulously cleaned. We took this entire keybed apart and cleaned each key one by one. They look as good as new.
Put a new Energizer Lithium 2032 in it, so you shouldn't need to replace the battery for the next ~10 years.
Installed a new internal power supply, which is no small task in the KC. It lines up perfectly with the external power cord input and will reliably power this synth for many years to come. All internal cabling was glued into place and the power connection to the board was zip tied in place, just like it is from the factory. Includes 6 ft external power cord.
The synth as a whole has been properly cleaned from top to bottom, inside and out. Even the knobs are all nice and clean. No gross white/funky build-up like you see on most Viruses of this era.
This unit had 2 feet on one side and none on the other. The 2 feet were removed and replaced with 6 evenly spaced feet for better support
The screen is nice and bright w/ good contrast. Note, the KC screens don't photograph well because they are black on red, and the red backlight generally overpowers the camera.
This unit is running OS 6.5, which is the latest OS for a Virus C
The user RAM banks A and B have NOT been reset to factory settings. This synth was used as a workhorse for a decade by its previous owner. Who knows what treasures (or tragedies) you may find in there :)
The black sides have been touched up with restaining. The sides on the KC are tougher to restore than the B / other series, as they have a "rubberized" black coating on top of particle board. There are a few marks / dents on these, so please examine the photos carefully. Note, many other sellers will try to hide these imperfections. We are honest about them. In real terms, they're the last thing you'll care about when playing this beauty. That said, some hand-made wood sides would look nice. We tried to buy some, but couldn't find any and can't justify the cost to have them custom-built for a restoration.
There are minor cosmetic imperfections throughout, which is expected for a synth of this age. Please examine the photos carefully, as we've done our best to capture everything. That said, the overall the look is clean, and many of the imperfections we photographed only show up in the right light, but we wanted to make sure we fully disclose.
These units are known for having "dents" on each side of the faceplate, but they are not dents. They are welded screws that hold the side plates on that have been overtightened from the inside. We've banged them out on this unit, and they now blend in quite nicely. Still visible, but barely. ALL viruses have these little mini dents from the welded screws / other hardware on the insides of the unit. They just show up better on the big boys.

As always, we have a deep love for all things Virus. Have done our best to bring this KC back to as nice as it can be without losing that factory feel. With all tacts replaced, along with the rest of the restoration work, it's well-prepared for its second life.
