For sale: Access Virus Indigo (V1 B) 37-key synthesizer in excellent condition. This is a full restoration with many new parts, including a new display, new key contact board, new keyboard controller board, all new tacts, and more. We will attach a restoration video once we complete editing (soon!).
Details below:
All 30 tact switches have been replaced with high-quality, brand-name tact switches rated for 3 million clicks. They are soft-touch and very close in feel and sound to the original tact switches.
8 rotary potentiometers have been replaced. All remaining pots have been tested and confirmed good. All are smooth and function flawlessly. Resistance is generally the same between the replacement and original pots.
The power supply filter capacitor and the two adjacent regulator capacitors on the main board have been replaced with a low-ESR Panasonic FR series capacitor and two KEMET high-temperature capacitors.
The LCD display has been replaced with a modern display that closely matches the original OEM colors. Backlight bleed has been addressed, so no internal light spill shines through adjacent push buttons.
The power switch has been replaced, eliminating another common failure point on these older units.
The key contact board has been replaced with a newer board and pads from a TI Polar with a bad main board, and the keyboard controller was replaced with a controller from a Virus KC that arrived to us with shipping damage. All keys work flawlessly and are nice and responsive, like new.
The pitch and mod wheels work perfectly and are nice and clean.
The internal power supply has been replaced with a high-quality 9V 2.0A power supply that provides more reliable operation than the 12V 1.25A supplies these units originally shipped with. The lower voltage also allows the unit to run noticeably cooler, especially during extended sessions. It is from the same manufacturer as the original (Phihong) and lines up nicely with the figure-8 opening in the bottom chassis. The brick is slightly taller, so we modified the plate that holds this in place to accommodate.
The battery has been replaced with an Energizer CR2032 lithium cell. You should not need to replace the battery for ~10 years.
Updated to the latest OS (4.9).
We have cleaned the unit thoroughly inside and out. Even the knobs have been cleaned and look nearly new. No white or greasy buildup like you commonly see on Viruses from this era.
The keys have undergone 2 rounds of whitening and are as white as they're going to get. That said, they do have an ivory tint to them from age, as is typical of synths from this era. They look nice, but they are not pearly white.
The overall look of this instrument is very clean, but it is not perfect. There are a few imperfections in the finish as well as a few minor dings in the side panels (please see photos 21-24). The keys are also tinted towards ivory as previously mentioned. Please examine all photos carefully, as we have done our best to document the condition.
With all the restoration and maintenance work done, this beautiful Indigo is well prepared for its next life.
Sale includes the synth, lengthy figure-8 power cable, and free shipping to the continental US.
