For sale: Access Virus Classic Desktop digital synthesizer in near-mint cosmetic condition and perfect working order. This is an extremely clean Virus Classic, and they do not show up like this very often. Key maintenance work has been completed to help ensure the longevity of this synth.
Details below:
All tact switches have been replaced with high-quality, brand-name tact switches rated for 3 million clicks. They are soft-touch and very close in feel and sound to the original tact switches (see photos 24-26). Partial main board recap, including the power supply filter capacitor and the two sets of twin regulator caps (see photo 27). The LCD display has been replaced with a modern display that closely matches the original OEM colors. The power switch has been replaced, eliminating another common failure point on the Virus desktop series (see photo 23). Ships with a high-quality 9V 2.0A power supply that provides more reliable operation than the original 12V 1.0A supplies these units originally shipped with. The lower voltage allows the unit to run noticeably cooler, especially during extended sessions. The battery has been replaced with a new Energizer CR2032 lithium cell. You should not need to replace the battery for ~10 years. Running OS 4.9 (the latest for this series). We have cleaned the unit thoroughly inside and out. There is no residue or buildup commonly seen on Virus units from this era. The overall look of this unit is excellent and very close to mint, but it is not perfect. There are a few very minor imperfections in the finish. There is a small nick in the silkscreen next to the saw waveform in LFO1 (see photo 5) and two minor imperfections above output 3 (see photo 15). There may be another very minor blemish or two we've missed. Please examine all photos carefully, as we have done our best to document the condition.
With all new tact switches, a partial main board recap, new display, new power switch, new battery, and other work completed, this Virus Classic is well prepared for its next life.
