For sale: Access Virus Classic Desktop digital synthesizer in perfect working order and very good cosmetic condition. This is a gorgeous Virus Classic, with a full recap, all new tacts, and several other upgrades completed. Not quite perfect, but still stunningly beautiful.
Details below:
All capacitors on the main board and panel board have been replaced with modern equivalents that were carefully selected to match the characteristics of the original caps from 20+ years ago (see photos 18 and 19).
All 30 tact switches have been replaced with brand-name, high-quality tact switches rated for 3 million clicks. These are soft-touch and are nearly indistinguishable from the original ALPS tacts (see photos 22-24).
5 rotary potentiometers have been replaced: volume, LFO1, LFO2, Filter, and Value (see photo 22).
The power switch has been replaced, eliminating another common failure point on the Virus desktop series (see photo 21).
The battery has been replaced with an Energizer CR2032 lithium cell. You should not need to replace the battery for ~10 years (see photo 20).
Ships with a high-quality 9V 2.0A power supply that provides more reliable operation than the original 12V 1.0A supplies these units originally shipped with. The lower voltage allows the unit to run noticeably cooler, especially during extended sessions.
Running the latest Virus B-series OS (4.9).
There are a few blemishes in the finish (see photos 26-29), but overall, this is a good looking Virus Classic. Please examine all photos carefully, as we have done our best to document the condition.
With all the restoration and maintenance work done, this Virus Classic is very well prepared for its next life.
Sale includes the synth, Triad 9V 2.0A power supply, original matching red rack ears, and free shipping to the continental US.
