For sale: Access Virus C Desktop digital synthesizer in very good cosmetic condition and perfect working order. As usual, we've fully inspected this synth and performed several upgrades along the way, including a full recap of the main and panel boards, all new tacts, a new power switch, new power supply & more.
Details below:
All capacitors on the main board and panel board have been replaced with modern equivalents that were carefully selected to match the characteristics of the original caps from 20+ years ago (we will make Virus C cap kits available for sale soon). See photos 21, 22, and 24.
All 35 tact switches have been replaced with high-quality, brand-name tact switches rated for 3 million clicks. They are soft-touch and very close in feel and sound to the original tact switches. See photos 23-26.
The original OEM red LCD display remains installed and looks fantastic.
The power switch has been replaced, eliminating another common failure point on the Virus desktop series.
Ships with a high-quality 9V 2.0A power supply that provides more reliable operation than the original 12V 1.0A supplies these units originally shipped with. The lower voltage also allows the unit to run noticeably cooler, especially during extended sessions.
The battery has been replaced with an Energizer CR2032 lithium cell. You should not need to replace the battery for ~10 years. See photo 28.
Running the latest OS (6.5).
We have cleaned the unit thoroughly inside and out. There is no sticky residue or buildup commonly seen on Virus units from this era.
The overall look of this unit is great, but it is not perfect. There are some imperfections on some of the knobs (see photos), several scrapes and abrasions on the front of the unit (see photos 29-30), imperfections in the finish on the top/rear edge of the unit (see photos 15-17), and some of the silkscreen around the filter knob has worn off (see photo 31). There are a number of other minor imperfections in the finish that are characteristic of a synth of this age. Please examine all photos carefully, as we have done our best to document the condition.
With the full recap, all new tact switches, new power switch, new battery, Triad PSU, and other maintenance work completed, this Virus C desktop is well prepared for its next life.
Sale includes the synth, Triad 9V 2.0A power supply, and free shipping to the continental US.
