This is a very clean Virus C that's been given a thorough servicing, including a full recap of the main and panel boards, all new tact switches, a new volume pot, power switch, battery, and power supply. All capacitors on the main board and panel board have been replaced with modern equivalents that were carefully selected to match the characteristics of the original caps from 20+ years ago. See photos 18-19 for the main board and photo 22 for the panel board.
All 35 tact switches have been replaced with high-quality, brand-name tact switches rated for 3 million clicks. They are soft-touch and very close in feel and sound to the original tact switches. See photos 22-23.
The power switch has been replaced, addressing another common failure point on the Virus desktop series. See photo 20.
The volume potentiometer has been replaced. See photo 22.
The battery has been replaced with an Energizer CR2032 lithium cell. You should not need to replace the battery for ~10 years, though actual life varies. See photo 21.
Ships with a new, high-quality Triad 9V 2.0A power supply. The lower voltage also allows the unit to run noticeably cooler, especially during extended sessions.
We have cleaned the unit thoroughly inside and out. There is no sticky residue or buildup commonly seen on Virus units from this era. The knobs are clean, with none of that white buildup often found on these older Viruses.
This unit has an OEM LCD display with black lettering on a red background, the same style used in the Virus KC. Unlike the adjustable display commonly found in the Virus C Desktop, this display does not switch between red-on-black and black-on-red. It looks fantastic in person, but wanted to disclose.
This unit is in excellent cosmetic condition and is very clean for its age. There are some blemishes on the rubberized wood sides, consistent with normal handling over the years. Overall, the sides are in much better shape than we usually see. There is also and occasional very minor blemish in the finish. Please examine all photos carefully, as we have done our best to document the condition.
