📦 This synth sold on 6-12-25.
Sold: Access Virus C Desktop. We've made extensive efforts to restore this unit to "like-new" functional condition. There are some cosmetic issues, but otherwise, this unit is ready to get to work in the studio.
Replaced all 35 tacts with new switches rated for 1 million clicks. They sound and feel great. Everything is very responsive, like new :) See photo #17 with all the yellow tacts.
This unit has a unique "pot plate" installed to prevent any pots from wobbling. I've taken apart many C's and never seen this before. Did some research and there is no documentation about this upgrade from Access Virus. My best guess is it's an after market upgrade. Regardless, it's awesome. You shouldn't ever have to worry about replacing any pots on this unit (so long as you use them responsibly). See photo #18.
The infamous 'brown capacitor' in this unit was replaced with a new Nichicon UHE1E101MED (100µF/25V, low-ESR) capacitor. Nichicon, a top-tier Japanese brand, is renowned for its low impedance and long lifespan, providing cleaner and more stable power to all downstream components. Its high ripple current handling and low ESR minimize heat, ensuring exceptional reliability and performance for this beautiful C Desktop.
Put a new Energizer Lithium 2032 in it, so you shouldn't need to replace the battery for the next 10-15 years.
Includes a quality power supply that runs at 12v 2.5 amps (more than enough, meaning it will run cool). This is quality power supply, and I see no need to replace it.
The power adapter inlet shaft and contact have been properly cleaned. This, in conjunction with the new Nichicon cap, means this unit does not reset when you wiggle the cord. You may still get a reset if you really go nuts (these units are known for resetting if the cord is wiggled), but you won't have any issues here.
The synth as a whole has been properly cleaned from top to bottom, inside and out. Even the knobs are all nice and clean. No gross white/funky build-up like you see on most Viruses of this era.
The black sides have been touched up with restaining. The sides on the C are tougher to restore than the B, as they have a "rubberized" coating. There are a few marks / dents on these, so please examine the photos carefully.
This unit had 4 strips of velcro on the bottom and no feet. I removed the velcro and installed 4 new rubber feet.
The screen is nice and bright w/ good contrast. Note, the C screens don't photograph as well because they can be adjusted from red on black to black on red. I have left as red on black (the default look). I have no concerns about it. Down the road, if needed, recommend replacing with a red LUX PMVA.
This unit is running OS 6.5, which is the latest OS for a Virus C
The user RAM banks A and B have NOT been reset to factory settings. This synth was used as a workhorse for a decade by its previous owner. I'm confident the patches in there are quite a bit more interesting than the factory sounds, which btw, are of course still available in the ROM banks. Who knows what treasures (or tragedies) you may find in there :)
There are minor cosmetic imperfections throughout, which is expected for a synth of this age. Please examine the photos carefully, as I've done my best to capture everything. That said, the overall the look is clean, but want to make sure I fully disclose.
There is some minor rusting on the internal plate near the midi ports. This is typical and considered normal for a synth of this age. See photo #24
As always, we have a deep love for all things Virus and have poured our hearts into this one. It is for sure one of the nicer C Desktops available for sale on the web. With all tacts replaced, along with the rest of the restoration work, it's 100% ready for a new home.
Sale includes the synth and a quality power supply.

- Synthesis Type: Virtual analog with subtractive synthesis, frequency modulation (FM), and phase distortion for a versatile sonic palette.
- Polyphony: 32-voice polyphony for complex, layered sounds; 16-part multitimbrality for sequencing and live performance setups.
- Oscillators: 3 per voice (2 main + 1 sub-oscillator):
- Waveforms: Sawtooth, variable pulse (with PWM), sine, triangle, 62 spectral waveforms.
- Oscillator sync and 5 FM modes for dynamic, evolving textures.
- Sub-oscillator: Square or triangle waveforms for enhanced low-end depth.
- Oscillator 3: Can function as an independent oscillator (via Oscillator 2 Edit) with waveform, level, and tuning control, sharing modulation capabilities.
- Filters: 2 independent resonant filters per voice, up to 36dB/octave (6-pole):
- Modes: Lowpass, highpass, bandpass, band reject; serial or parallel routing.
- Overdrive/saturation between filters for gritty, aggressive textures.
- Filter envelope: Modulates filters, Oscillator 2 pitch, or FM amount for expressive sound design.
- Effects: Up to 98 simultaneous DSP effects (6 per multitimbral part):
- Reverb: MIDI-syncable pre-delay, improved algorithms over Virus B.
- Delay: MIDI-syncable with variable feedback and polyrhythmic preset patterns, pre-reverb in signal path.
- Chorus/Flanger: Lush modulation effects for depth and movement.
- Retro Phaser: 6-stage stereo phaser with 24 filter poles for vintage and modern tones.
- Distortion: Light, hard, digital types, plus additional distortion types unique to Virus C.

- LFO 1/2: Modulate pitch, pulse width, resonance, filter gain (tremolo/distortion).
- LFO 3: Dedicated to oscillator pitch for subtle drift or vibrato effects.
- Envelope Mode: LFOs can function as one-shot envelopes for percussive effects.
- Key Follow: Adjusts LFO speed based on key position.
