For sale: A beautifully restored custom Access Virus C Desktop. This synth was used extensively in Captain Black’s studio, but it’s time to move her on to someone new. Includes a low-hours panel board with original ALPS pots and tact switches (with pot plate), a new battery, new power supply filter capacitor, new power supply, custom cherry wood side panels with ebony stain and satin finish, and a custom LUX PMVA LED display upgrade designed for desktop viewing angles. This is an exploratory centerpiece, not something you put off to the side or rack out of the way. It's absolutely beautiful and functions as expected.

Note: The LUX PMVA display may exhibit issues with v-sync, but the tradeoff is worth it in our opinion. We are happy to swap in a used OEM display or a new black-and-white display for no additional cost, prior to shipment, at the buyer's discretion.

Includes a low-hours panel board with original ALPS pots, tact switches, and a pot plate. All tacts are still very clicky, like-new. The pots are all nice and even feeling, and the pot plate prevents any wobble, ensuring a long life so long as they are not abused.
The infamous 'brown capacitor' in this unit was replaced with a new Nichicon UHE1E101MED (100µF/25V, low-ESR) capacitor. Nichicon, a top-tier Japanese brand, is renowned for its low impedance and long lifespan, providing cleaner and more stable power to all downstream components. Its high ripple current handling and low ESR minimize heat, ensuring exceptional reliability and performance for this beautiful C Desktop.
Put a new Energizer Lithium cell 2032 in it, so you shouldn't need to replace the battery for the next ~10 years.
Includes a brand-new high quality power supply that runs at 12v 3.0 amps (more than enough, meaning it will run cool).
The synth has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out, including the knobs. There is no sticky residue or buildup commonly seen on many Virus units of this era.
Custom cherry wood side panels with ebony stain and a satin finish. These replace the original rubberized side panels and give the instrument a refined, custom look.
Custom LUX PMVA LED screen designed for improved readability at desktop viewing angles. The display area is larger than the original and looks its best when viewed at approximately a 45-degree angle.
There are a handful of minor cosmetic imperfections. Please examine the photos carefully, as we’ve done our best to capture everything. Overall, the instrument presents very cleanly.
